Parade Recording with BBC NOW

parade1

Tonight I listened to BBC NOW recording Satie’s ‘Parade’, conducted by Martin Yates.  I will be using the recording as the basis for a new work written for Marc Rees and National Dance Company Wales.  I will be posting much more about this event over the next few weeks and this recording session marks the start of a lot of studio work for me! The first performances are on the 24th and 25th of October in the WMC in Cardiff with performances in Pontio, Bangor shortly afterwards.

Newport Legends Concert

ggkl

The Operasonic concert on Sunday 2nd July was fantastic!  All the legends came together for the first time and it was great to see and hear what everyone had been working on for so long.  Many of the young singers put in an excellent performance and it was agreed by the audience that the night was a great success.  It was lovely working with Polly Graham on this, and lovely to meet so many enthusiastic music makers!

I have just made the soundtrack to the ballet ‘Cinderella’, which was commissioned by Ballet Cymru, available here.  It was such a pleasure to work on music for a whole production and I hope you enjoy listening to it.

I’ve just uploaded some pictures from the LMM concert ‘Music Is Everything’ in which my piece ‘Flutter’ received its premiere.  It was a great day and the audience loved the event and were clearly moved by all the staff and children’s hard work and dedication.

Islands (Ynysoedd) in Iceland video!

I am so thrilled to be able to share a wonderful recording of The South Iceland Chamber Choir performing ‘Islands (Ynysoedd)’ at their recent concert.  I need to say a big thank you to Brian FitzGibbon and Árni Möller for this, in addition to Hilmar Örn Agnarsson, Björg Þórhallsdóttir, and the SICC.

On Tuesday 21st this week, the South Iceland Chamber Choir (or Kammerkór Suðurlands to those fluent in Icelandic) performed my piece Islands/Ynysoedd at a concert in Reykjavik.  I believe the concert was to promote a new CD which the choir has just released, more details to follow…
